Tomorrow Starts Tonight

Your Monday was decided before you woke up this morning. The only question is who decided it.

Goldman Sachs put a number on the earthquake back in 2023: generative AI could expose some 300 million full-time jobs to automation. Sound familiar? You tell yourself you'll figure out the morning in the morning. That sentence is the most expensive line in your business, and it never shows up on the books. In 28 years I have never once seen anyone stall because they lacked information. I've watched hundreds stall because at 8:01 they chose to react instead of execute. Students do it to a thesis. Founders do it to a launch. Managers do it to the one conversation they've been dodging all quarter. Same disease, different desk.

You want to know if it's you? Watch what you grab first tomorrow. If your hand goes to the phone before it goes to the plan, the day already belongs to somebody else. The tell isn't dramatic. It's a thumb on a screen at 7:58.

So here's tonight's assignment, and it takes ninety seconds. Before you close the laptop, write one sentence: what tomorrow is for. One sentence, so specific a stranger could pick it up and do it. Call the five past clients I've been avoiding. Draft the first 500 words of the proposal. Finish the methods section. Then tomorrow at 8, do that thing first. Before email. Before the feeds. Before you ask your other Brain for a single thing. One decision, made tonight, executed first.
